  • Financial details, such as payment card details, bank account details, IBAN, repayment information, transaction history, and credit-related information

  • Data obtained from third parties (such as merchants, financial institutions, credit bureaus, identity verification, social media and network sites where you are registered, open banking sources, utilities, past or on-going court cases and fraud prevention providers)
  • Information from linked third-party accounts where you choose to provide access.

4. Sensitive data

Due to the nature of our services, we process certain types of personal data that may be considered sensitive under applicable laws. This includes:

  • Financial and credit-related data
  • Identity verification data, and where applicable, biometric data

Where biometric data is used, it is processed either by Tamara or by authorized third-party providers acting on our behalf, with appropriate safeguards in place and in accordance with applicable laws.

We collect personal data:

  • Directly from you when you register or use our services
  • From merchants when you transact using Tamara
  • From financial institutions, open banking service providers and credit bureaus
  • From identity verification and fraud prevention providers

6. Failure to provide personal data

If we are required to collect personal data under applicable laws or as part of a contract with you and you do not provide it, we may not be able to provide our services. In such cases, we will inform you accordingly.

7. How we use your data

We use your personal data to:

  • Deliver our financing services and process transactions including providing customer support and enforcing our terms
  • Assess your creditworthiness and verify your identity
  • Monitor and prevent fraud and misuse (including identifying when you sign in to your account and giving you appropriate access to our platforms)
  • Communicate important service-related updates
  • Improve and develop our services, including risk models and user experience
  • We may also anonymize personal data so it can no longer be linked to you and use it for analytics, reporting, service improvement, and product development.
  • Comply with legal and regulatory obligations

We will only send marketing communications where you have provided explicit consent.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA). Where your complaint relates to Tamara’s regulated financing services in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, you may also escalate your complaint to the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) through its official complaint channels.

We will respond to valid data subject rights requests within 30 days of receiving the request. Where permitted by applicable law, this period may be extended by up to an additional 30 days if the request is complex, requires additional verification, requires coordination with relevant internal teams or third parties, or if we receive multiple requests from the same individual. Where an extension is needed, we will notify you and explain the reason for the delay.

18. Security measures and breach handling

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data, including:

  • Encryption of data in transit and at rest
  • Access controls and monitoring
  • Regular security testing and audits
